May 19th 2011, additions to that discussion about the Hanging Phalanx ...

(GW, May 19th) Okay, so we'll agree that the Hanging Pawn situation is the same formation as the Hanging Phalanx? From all the examples I've see, of Hanging Pawns, the Pawns are all in Phalanx formation.

Nope, your video changed my mind! I now see a difference, which H&M-S undoubtedly was referring to. See my note to the Hanging Pawns above after the video.

Very instructive video, showing the pro's and con's of Hanging Pawns and Hanging Phalanx's ... Kasparov in the first game uses what Larry Evans in his book refers to as a "Pawn Steamroller" using the Hanging Phalanx. I learned something very useful today.
