The Discovered Attack:
Part of the Chess Tactics Guide
An attack is deemed as "Discovered" when one piece moves, to attack another and, in doing so, reveals a piece behind which suddenly has direct line of sight to threaten another of your opponent's pieces.
When the uncovered piece is in a direct line to threaten the enemy's King, it is often referred to as a "Discovered Check".
