[X-Ray Attack, Definition 3]

X-Ray Attack, Definition 3

There are 3 different types, or 'definitions' of "X-Ray Attack" ...

We're looking at Definition 3, here: the "Defensive X-Ray Attack".

You cannot capture an enemy pieces, directly from an X-Ray Attack; rather, a piece makes a "threat", to the enemy piece, "through" a friendly piece.

In this case, with the "Defensive" type of X-Ray, a piece will defend a friendly piece, "through" that friendly piece, to warn the attacking enemy piece that they will get captured, if they persist in capturing their intended victim.
