Keyword Query: Chess Strategies Trap
Interpretation:
You want to see an example of Chess Traps.

Strategies and Tactics are commonly confused, by beginners:

  • Strategies are a collection of mini-blueprints, for how you intend to control your army.

  • Tactics, on the other hand, take advantage of short-term opportunities that come and go at random, throughout your game(s).

Traps have more to do with Tactics; they're played in order to gain some sort of Advantage, such winning an extra Pawn or Piece.

IGM Yasser Seirawan, on pages 50-51 in his book, "Play Winning Chess", warns against deliberately playing to Trap your opponent.

Instead, he advises you focus your efforts on moves that support your army's development.

The following video clip shows an example of a Trap:

For even more Traps, a wicked little book I've been exploring is "Chess Traps, Pitfalls & Swindles - How To Set Them And How To Avoid Them", by I.A. Horowitz and Fred Reinfeld.
