Black's Game-Losing Mistakes appear to be...

Black's game-losing mistakes appear to be ...

  • 3...f5, the move appears positive, looking to sacrifice the f-Pawn, in order to drag White's e-Pawn, seemingly, 'out of position', giving White Doubled Pawns on the f-file, while also dismantling White's central Phalanx (White currently Controls 3 of the 4 Center Squares; Black is possibly seeking to reduce White's control).

Black's misjudgment appears to be the position of White's light-Bishop, which is ideally placed to provide support for White's e-Pawn (upon 4. exf5), while also in position to take advantage should Black fail to deal with the light-square path leading to the Black King.

  • 4...Bxg2, Black follows up one mistake with a second, in quick succession. Greed is Black's downfall: grabbing enemy material and not spotting the danger of an exposed King, on the light squares, with two of White's long-range specialists, also capable of attacking along the light-diagonals: White's Qd1-h5+, plus the potential of White's Bd3.

4...Nf6 would have been a wiser choice, preventing 5. Qh5+ and enabling Black to attempt to rectify the earlier mistake (3...f5).

After 5. Qh5+, Black is virtually helpless to White's remaining, game-winning moves, which involves white's Pawn (originally the e-Pawn!) taking-out Black's h-Pawn - the only guard in position to stop White's light-Bishop Checkmating on g6.
